Interview with Mute

Matchbox Gallery Exhibition: Wavelength -

28th August - 9th September 2012

This Installation looks at the loudspeaker as a visual artifact and how it acts on our perception of sound. Without access to visual aspects of the loudspeaker we may have to consider carefully the intrinsic elements of the sound and whether the physical object is playing a part in the shaping of these. Aspects of age, condition and design of the object provide us with information that we use to interpret the aural information we recieve. The absence of this information brings to attention what part the visual side of the loudspeaker does play in everyday mediated listening.

Thanks to Casimar Larkin for assistance in creating the loudspeaker covers.
